The Nats are still in shock over how awful their team is coming out of the draft, and are eager to shop for upgrades at SS, 1B, and 3B. Here's what I'm shopping:
- Nick Hundley: probably better than your starting catcher.
- Adam Jones: power & speed, still just 26 years old, still just $3.2M. Only reason he's available is because his defensive rating sucks this year.
- Hanley Ramirez: seemed like a perennial MVP candidate just a year ago, so probably too soon to declare him dead at age 28. Would make a great DH vs LHP (.994 OPS).
- Zachary Britton: MLB.com's #19 prospect a year ago, solid rookie numbers as a 23 year old in AL East (11-11, 4.61 ERA).
- David Freese: ehhh, World Series MVP must be good for something.
- C.C. Sabathia: still an elite ace, even at $24M (not looking for much on him)
- Mike Trout: no marketing required.
- Jameson Taillon: currently ranked #8 prospect by MLB.com
- Jemile Weeks: no-glove qualified projection, wasted 1st round pick
